King Charles III Coronation Medal
We’re proud to share that our partner Betsy Williamson is a recipient of the King Charles III Coronation Medal. Created to commemorate the coronation of King Charles III, the medal is a one-time award administered by the Chancellery of Honours and bestowed on individuals who have made a significant difference in Canadian communities.
Nominated by the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC) for her outstanding contribution and commitment to the architectural community in Canada, Betsy is one of 30 RAIC candidates chosen as recipients. She will receive her medal on World Architecture Day, October 7, at the RAIC’s Congress on Architecture.
Since co-founding WWInc. in 2007, with Shane Williamson, Betsy has established the firm as a practice devoted to creating simple, imaginative, and well detailed modern environments. Betsy led the design for the firm’s Governor General Award-winning project and has lectured globally on their work.
As vice-chair of the Waterfront Toronto Design Review Panel, Betsy actively contributes to a culture of quality at an urban scale by signaling that high quality design is a critical consideration for the development of Toronto’s waterfront and the city.
She is also a tireless advocate for equality in the profession. With a group of like-minded architects, she founded and professionally advises BEAT, Building Equality in Architecture Toronto. BEAT is dedicated to the promotion of equality by creating events and web content for the advancement of women in the profession and by providing mentorship, networking, and leadership opportunities.
